Ilham is a Partner in the project finance, project development and construction practice of AHP. He recently graduated from New York University School of Law and awarded with scholarship from LPDP, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.

This rising star lawyer, as recognized by IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2021 and Thomson Reuters’ Asian Legal Business, joined AHP in 2018. Prior to joining AHP, he worked for another international affiliated law firm for 5 years.

He has been representing banks, multinational corporations and state-owned companies in the development, construction and financing of major Indonesia infrastructure projects. He also has extensive experience in mining, structured financing, debt restructuring and acquisition financing.

Ilham’s experience ranging from providing advices to support project development and construction structure, drafting and negotiating various projects documentation (e.g., power purchase agreement, concession agreement, EPC and O&M contracts) to preparing finance documents (e.g., inter-creditor agreement, facility agreement, common terms agreement, cash account management agreement and various Indonesian law security documents).

In the last few years, he played a leading role in the transactions that have won a total of 13 deal of the year awards from various leading industry publications.

EXPERIENCE

Banking & Finance and Projects

  • US$265 million syndicated financing led by Credit Suisse to Plaza Indonesia group – this deal won “Project Finance Deal of the Year” at the ALB Indonesia Awards 2022;
  • US$222 million syndicated financing led by ADB and IFC to develop 275 MW Riau combined-cycle power plant – this deal won “Project Finance Deal of the Year” at the ALB Indonesia Awards 2020; 
  • PT Sewatama Sumberdaya US$135 million restructuring deal – awarded as “Indonesian Deal of the Year 2017” by Islamic Finance News;
  • Issuance of the Republic of Indonesia US$2.5 billion Global Sukuk – awarded as “Indonesian Deal of the Year 2016” by Islamic Finance News; 
  • Refinancing of Indonesia’s first wind power project, Sidrap Wind Farm – awarded as “Renewable Energy Deal of the Year” at The Asset Tripple A Infrastructure Awards 2021 and shortlisted as “Asia-Pacific Project Finance Deal of the Year” at the IFLR Asia Pacific Awards 2021;
  • Development and financing of Vena Energy solar power plants in Eastern Indonesia – won “Finance Deal of the Year” at the Asia Legal Awards 2019 and “Solar Power Deal of the Year” at the Asian Power Awards 2018; 
  • Financing of Hasang hydro-electric power plant in North Sumatera – awarded as “Asia-Pacific Hydro Deal of the Year 2016” by IJ Global; 
  • Development of Indonesian largest port, Patimban, the country’s first port development under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme;
  • Construction and financing of PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk US$5 billion petrochemical complex expansion, the country’s largest publicly listed petrochemical company; and
  • Development of power plant and aluminum smelter owned by the two Indonesian mining state-owned giants, ANTAM and INALUM.
