ASEAN Conference 2024: Reimagining ASEAN for a Sustainable Tomorrow

The ASEAN Conference 2024 was held on 29 August 2024 with the theme “Reimagining ASEAN for a Sustainable Tomorrow”. The event brought together industry players and experts to discuss, among others, sustainability efforts with the ASEAN region. It was graced by Mr Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry. Chia Kim Huat, Rajah & Tann Asia’s (“RTA“) Regional Head of Corporate & Transactional Group, represented RTA in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), United Overseas Bank (UOB), and RSM – Singapore on efforts to support Singapore companies in expanding their presence in the ASEAN region.   

Weilin Lee, Head of the Sustainability Practice, moderated the panel discussion on “ASEAN Circular Economy: Ambition vs Reality”. The session delved into the progress of the ASEAN Economic Community, exploring its impact on regional businesses and emerging trends in the circular economy. The following Partners from the RTA network provided market advice during the market advisory clinic sessions: Eko Basyuni, Tunggul P Utomo, and Yogi Marsono from Assegaf Hamzah & Partners; Jennifer Lee, Justin Chua, and Rubini Murugesan from Christopher & Lee Ong; and Melisa Uremovic, Nattarat Boonyatap, and Saroj Jongsaritwang from Rajah & Tann (Thailand).
